Salads and pizzas top the list of meals ordered on food ordering and delivery apps by residents

DUBAI: Salads are far and away Dubai’s most popular delivery meal accounting for 35 per cent of all takeaway orders on food delivery app Deliveroo.

On an average, nearly four out of 10 orders placed on UberEATS and Deliveroo are for salads followed by burgers and pizzas, said representatives of the two online food delivery companies.

Poke Poke, Under500 and Barsalata Taqado Mexican and Burrito Box figure prominently on the list of restaurants which notch up the most orders for these meals on UberEats and Deliveroo apps.

Croissants top the list of breakfast options while salads and Lebanese food remain the most popular choices for lunch and dinner.

“Most people prefer to eat healthy during lunch which explains why most orders during afternoons are for salads, wraps, healthy bowls and low carb food,” said Anis Harb, general manager, Deliveroo.

For breakfast, Café Bateel and PAUL dominate other restaurants on UberEATS while Friends Avenue Café and Ultimate Brekkie Board rule the roost on Deliveroo.

While pizzas are ordered all day round, Lebanese platter is the most sought-after dish for dinner,” said a spokesperson of UberEATS.

“This is because they are well proportioned and ideal for families,” he explained.

Weekends are the busiest days for UberEats and Deliveroo. “Thursday evenings are particularly busy as it’s when most people invite friends and family,” said a representative of Deliveroo.
